A bird-breeding lighting system brings together a controller, suitable light sources and the right connections. This guide helps you choose between photoperiod control, gradual dawn and dusk, and LED light bars for cages and aviaries.
Which light controller suits your installation?
Photoperiod: the length of the day matters too
Photoperiod is the alternation between hours of light and darkness. A controller lets you set lighting times and change them over time. Day length, light intensity and the lamp's spectrum are separate factors: increasing one does not replace choosing the others.
Canaries, parrots, songbirds and decoy birds
The species, time of year and conditions in the breeding room call for appropriate settings. Avoid applying the same calendar to every bird. Review the available programmes and check whether a species schedule or a personal programme meets your needs; the species name alone does not define a complete installation.
Gradual dawn and dusk
Fading changes light intensity progressively between night and day. Both the controller and the connected light sources must be compatible to achieve the desired transition. The programmes pages also explain Personal Programme 1 and Personal Programme 2, which change lighting times according to your chosen schedule.

For installations using 230 V lamps, with a dimmable output and an ON/OFF output. Dimmable LED lamps must be checked for compatibility: different lamps can behave differently during fading.

Before selecting light bars, check the voltage, total power, number of lines and cable type. PRO and Standard versions require their specified connections: follow the manual for the version you choose. Specify cable lengths as well as cage-grid hooks or an aluminium profile with a cover, where available.
LED, UV and UVA: check the light source specifications
The term LED does not automatically mean that a source emits UV or UVA. A controller regulates a compatible light source but does not change its spectrum. If your requirement concerns UV or UVA, use the declared specifications of the particular lamp or LED bar; do not infer them from the light's colour or a rendering.
Plan the lighting for your cage wall
The configurator lets you arrange cages in rows and columns, choose LED bars and prepare a component list. Have the measurements, quantities, cable lengths and mounting method ready: the proposal and component compatibility will be reviewed before confirmation.
